Strossmayer University); five national JA organisations (Belgium, Finland, Italy, Estonia, and Latvia).

The main objective of the project was to analyse the impact of entrepreneurship education and understand what is needed to reach the European goal, which is that every young person should have a practical entrepreneurial experience before leaving school. The consortium tested what the scenario looks like at 50% penetration among students between 15 and 20 years old and carried out 27-month field trial using mini-companies in twenty schools (academic as well as vocational) across the five countries.

Based on a survey among young people and their perceptions of Europe’s future, several innovation workshops are organised across Europe involving young people and business leaders. They will exchange views on their vision about the EU, how they do/would like to benefit from it, how to better hear young people’s voices, and discuss topics such as Europe’s economic development and youth employment.

Europe’s youth remains the EU’s greatest source of inspiration and opportunity. Only by making youth a priority and re-engaging with the visions, concerns and ideas of young people can Europe hope to overcome the challenges, which have rocked it and renew confidence that stability can return.

Outstanding JA alumni will be nominated from across Europe.

FERDs LIST will recognise young inspirational innovators, leaders and entrepreneurs who are on their way to creating sustainable and successful businesses and careers. Each year between 5 to 10 honourees will be added to FERD’s LIST. They will be celebrated for the pathway that they are on, and recognized for the contributions they are making. Their experience can teach others that anything is possible.

Research from the past ten years provides clear proof of the effect JA has had on young people’s life. They had what the European Commission calls “a practical entrepreneurial experience”. They did the JA Company programme at school or the JA Start Up Programme at college or university. They learned from experienced business people and eager teachers. But most of all, they learned by doing, by winning … and by failing.

Each year, thousands of JA alumni enter Europe’s economy as potential entrepreneurs. Since 2013 the AmCham EU Youth Entrepreneurship Award leverages JA’s network to identify young people who have participated in a JA programme, made it past the initial start-up phase and have a business concept with strong growth potential.

Start-ups with at least one of the co-founders being a JA alumni can apply for the award. Nominees are selected by a jury from JA Europe and AmCham EU, with the winner being invited to the AmCham EU event hosted in Brussels. The event’s guest-list usually includes MEPs, policy stakeholders, and AmCham EU members. The winning start-up is being awarded a cash prize of 10,000€ and receive mentoring from members of AmCham EU’s Executive Council.
